Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), medically known as povidone, is a non-ionic water-soluble polymer compound. It is the most distinctive and most deeply studied type of N-vinylamide polymers, and has an 80-year commercial history.
It has now developed into a class of polymers including homopolymers, copolymers, cross-linked polymers and polymer complexes, which are divided into three types: non-ionic, cationic and anionic, and three grades: industrial grade, pharmaceutical grade and food grade.
